Surface Geology of Australia

The Surface Geology of Australia 1:1M scale dataset (2012 edition) is a seamless national coverage of outcrop and surficial geology, compiled for use at or around 1:1 million scale. The data maps outcropping bedrock geology and unconsolidated or poorly consolidated regolith material covering bedrock. Geological units are represented as polygon and line geometries, and are attributed with information regarding stratigraphic nomenclature and hierarchy, age, lithology, and primary data source.

Basin in a Box

Woody vegetation and landcover (GRID and geoTIFF), Landsat TM imagery (geoTIFF), AVHRR Satellite image (geoTIFF), climate, evaporation basins, geology, soils and hydrogeology (Shape and Export), socio-economic (GRID and Shape), seamless topographic layers. GDA94 compatible.

ASRIS Physiographic Regions

The Australian Collaborative Land Evaluation Program (ACLEP) and the National Committee on Soil and Terrain (NCST) have released the revised Physiographic Regions of Australia (Pain et al. 2011). The map below shows the Physiographic Regions (smallest subdivisions), Provinces and Divisions (largest subdivisions). The Physiographic Provinces comprise Level 1 in ASRIS whilst the Physiographic Regions are the ASRIS Level 2 tracts.

Australian climatic zones

State and National maps which show statistical characteristics of climatic elements, from time periods of one day to long-term analyses.

A range of maps of climate elements are available from the Bureau of Meteorology. These include printed copies of the temperature and rainfall maps available in electronic form on the Bureau of Meteorology website, as well as other climate maps

GEODATA TOPO 250K Series 3 is a vector representation of the major topographic features appearing on the 1:250,000 scale NATMAPs supplied in Personal Geodatabase format and is designed for use in a range of commercial GIS software. Data is arranged within specific themes. All data is based on the GDA94 coordinate system.

Australian river basins 1997

Shows the boundaries of the Australian basins as defined by the Agriculture and Resource Management Council of Australia and New Zealand (ARMCANZ). This data shows boundary and attribute information for 12 divisions, 77 regions and 245 basins. It also
contains, for each basin, information relating to its individual basin/region/division name and number. State borders are also included in the data. Data for Division XIII Distant Islands Division is not included. These basins are the primary building block for the collection of national
