Polygon coverage of the state's Surfacewater basins as defined by the Australian Water Resource Council. Each state was approached to provide basin boundaries which were amalgamated to produce an Australia wide dataset.
To delineate each surface water catchment basin within South Australia. Each basin encompasses a number of catchments relating to the stream network they contain.

Dataset Lineage
Maintained by the Department for Water, Land and Biodiversity in 1998. Initially captured under an AWRC program covering Australia. Capture scales varied from 1:10,000 to 1:250,000 for South Australia and was dependent on availability of contoured maps.
