A locality is generally the name given to an area of activity. This can be either rural or urban, and be comprised of residential or commercial parcels, or a combination of both. The relevant State and Government Authorities in each state are responsible for locality naming and determining boundary extent. More than one suburb can be assigned the same Postcode, and they are generally within close proximity of each other, as the allocation of postcodes is based on Australia Post’s operational efficiency.
