Pumping Bores in the Northern Territory

Theme

The Water Resources Division of Department of Land Resource Management (DLRM) carries out pumping tests on boreholes in order to determine optimum pumping rates and pump depths. They are also used to determine aquifer hydraulic parameters. This dataset lists all boreholes that have been pump tested or that have been used as observation bores in pump tests

Dataset Lineage

Basic pump test data has been recorded in a register since the 1950's. Separate pump test books were kept at the Water Resources offices in Alice Springs and Darwin. Parts of that data were entered onto a spreadsheet in January 2014. Bore locations were obtained from the HYDSTRA database and the dataset was turned into a Shapefile. Information such as water quality and recommended pump rate were extracted manually from bore files using NRMaps.
