National Land Use mapping

Land use data mapped at the national scale (1:2,500,000) using ABS agricultural commodity data and satellite imagery can be downloaded from th​is page. Table 1 provides links to the datasets and associated documents that should be read before using the data. National land use data is available for the 1992-93, 1993-94, 1996-97, 1998-99, 2000-01, 2001-02, 2005-06 and 2010-11​ financial years. The 2015-16 dataset is currently in production.

ASRIS Physiographic Regions

The Australian Collaborative Land Evaluation Program (ACLEP) and the National Committee on Soil and Terrain (NCST) have released the revised Physiographic Regions of Australia (Pain et al. 2011). The map below shows the Physiographic Regions (smallest subdivisions), Provinces and Divisions (largest subdivisions). The Physiographic Provinces comprise Level 1 in ASRIS whilst the Physiographic Regions are the ASRIS Level 2 tracts.

Watercourses (Geodata V3)

GEODATA TOPO 250K Series 3 is a vector representation of the major topographic features appearing on the 1:250,000 scale NATMAPs supplied in Personal Geodatabase format and is designed for use in a range of commercial GIS software. Data is arranged within specific themes. All data is based on the GDA94 coordinate system. GEODATA TOPO 250K Series 3 is available as a free download product in Personal Geodatabase, ArcView Shapefile or MapInfo TAB file formats.
